UNAMID, North Darfur state radio pledge continued cooperation
In a continuation of its support to the North Darfur Radio and Television Corporation, the Radio unit of UNAMID’s Communication and Public Information Division today handed over a range of radio equipment in a ceremony held at the Mission’s headquarters in El Fasher, North Darfur.

The equipment, which includes an audio mixer, amplifier and power supply, was provided as part of a long-term loan aimed at improving the broadcasting capabilities of the state’s sole radio station.

The corporation’s Director, Mr. Mohamed Tarjok expressed his gratitude and praised the close relationship with UNAMID. He also promised to accelerate the incorporation of weekly UNAMID programmes on the state’s airwaves and assist in the provision of a UNAMID broadcasting license, as had been decided at the eighth meeting of the AU/UN/UNAMID tripartite mechanism in May this year.

UNAMID has also helped rebuild an AM transmitter tower in El Fasher and provided training on the use of the tower’s new equipment.

UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military forces conducted 92 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night, and humanitarian escort patrols, covering 67 villages and IDP camps during the reporting period.

UNAMID police advisors conducted 149 patrols in villages and internally displaced persons camps.
