
The Review Conference of the Rome Statute (or the ICC Review Conference) will take place in Kampala, Uganda, from 31 May to 11 June.
NEW YORK, May 27, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will speak at the opening of the Conference on the morning of Monday, 31 May.
The Review Conference constitutes a special meeting of States Parties to the International Criminal Court to consider amendments to the Rome Statute and to “take stock of its implementation and impact”.
The three proposals for amendments to the Statute which will be discussed at the Conference are:
Revision of Article 124 (the “opt out” provision);
The inclusion of a definition of the “crime of aggression”;
The expansion of the use of “certain weapons” as war crimes in the context of an armed conflict not of an international character.
