
14TH EU-Africa Ministerial Troika / Experts Meet in Brussels to Assess Joint Partnership Strategy
BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, April 23, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Experts of the joint EU-Africa Partnership will on 23rd April 2010, meet at the Council of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, within the framework of the 14th Africa-EU Ministerial Troika Meeting scheduled to take place on 26 April 2010, in Luxembourg.
This meeting is a follow-up of the 13th Africa-EU Ministerial Troika that invited the EU and AU presidencies as well as the two Commissions including the EU Council Secretariat to present in time for the next Ministerial Troika, options on improving the implementation of the Joint Strategy in view of a possible 2nd Action Plan to be endorsed at the Africa-EU Summit in 2010.
The 2nd Action Plan is expected to address inter alia, possible content, structure, institutional framework, challenges and shortfalls identified so far in the implementation of the joint EU-Africa Partnership Strategy, so as to suggest the way forward.
Meanwhile, discussions at the 14th EU-Africa Ministerial Troika meeting will be based on a fundamental review of the structures in place for the 1st Action Plan and will include proposals for significant changes, if deemed necessary, to ensure the effectiveness and credibility of the 2nd Action Plan.
The joint EU-Africa Experts meeting kicks off at 14.30h
