Africa France Business Meetings / First “100% business” forum after the Africa-France summit / Bordeaux – 2 and 3 June 2010

BORDEAUX, France, March 29, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Immediately after the “AFRICA-FRANCE” summit, organized in Nice by the French Government, the

Bordeaux business forum, on 2 and 3 June 2010, will offer an opportunity for around a hundred

African entrepreneurs to meet their French counterparts. The objective of the 2nd AFRICA FRANCE

BUSINESS MEETINGS: make new business contacts during the 3 half-days devoted to business

appointments, 2 lecture and feedback sessions, and in the exhibition area.

“Getting down to business” is the ambitious goal of the 2nd AFRICA FRANCE BUSINESS MEETINGS, featuring a

remarkably broad representation of African countries, with greater involvement of English- and Portuguesespeaking

countries to offer even greater scope for business. This year, as 17 African countries celebrate

their 50the year of independence, this forum confirms Bordeaux’ privileged relationship with the African

continent.

Building on the dynamic of the Nice summit

The Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its partners* have organized this meeting to bring

together business leaders from France and Africa, around thirty countries in all, representing all types of

industries, and a wide variety of geographical, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. This forum offers an

outstanding opportunity for these entrepreneurs to promote their know-how, consolidate their business

networks, and build new business relationships.

Two days of exchanges of information and discussion on economic development in Africa

The major sectors concerned include green-business, agroprocessing, energy, ICT, transportation, banking

and finance, construction and civil engineering, medical and pharmaceutical industries, corporate services

…all high-added-value sectors with a promising future.

Participants at the AFRICA FRANCE BUSINESS MEETINGS include chief executive officers, export directors,

development directors, and other executives in strategic corporate functions.

Average growth rate in Africa: over 5%

Despite average growth in excess of 5%, Africa remains on the fringes of the global economy, representing

barely 2% of international trade, although it offers considerable development potential and varied sources of

business. The vast human resources and energy reserves of Africa are likely to make this continent one of

the key economic players in the 21st century.

Africa: an emerging market!

Its young population includes undiscovered talents and ambitious, highly-educated entrepreneurs who have

achieved success on all 5 continents. They will be reporting on their experiences to the forum and offering

new business opportunities.

France, and Bordeaux in particular, truly believes in Africa. Numerous businesses that have operated

successfully across the continent for many years will also be present to give the benefit of their highly useful

feedback.
