
Addis Ababa / Open session and briefing of the PSC on women and children in armed conflicts
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, March 29, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — In the framework of its 223rd meeting, the Peace and Security Council (PSC) on the African Union (AU) will hold an open session with its 15 members and the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) on the theme “Women and children in armed conflicts” on Tuesday 30 March, 2010 at 9h30 at the headquarters of the AU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The open session will be followed by a briefing session to the PRC on the activities of the PSC during the month of March by the Ambassador of Zambia, Chairperson of the month of the PSC. The open session and the briefing fall in the framework of the activities being conducted by the PSC in 2010, which was declared the Year of Peace and Security in Africa by the AU Heads of State and Government.
The event which will be held in the Plenary Hall of the AU will end at 12h45 with a press conference by the Chairperson of the PSC and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission. Journalists are invited to cover the open sessions of the 223rd meeting of the PSC and to cover the press conference.
