The Director General of Africa Affairs of China brief the AUC on the preparation of the Forthcoming FOCAC

 

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, August 26, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — In the framework of the forthcoming Forum for China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Director General of Africa Affairs of China and the Secretatary General of FOCAC, H.E. Mr. Zhang Ming met yesterday Monday 24 August 2009 in the AU headquarters, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, representatives of the African Union Commission (AUC) led by Ambassador John Kayode Shinkaiye, AUC Chief of Staff.

The main purpose of the meeting was to brief the AUC on the preparations for the next FOCAC, scheduled to take place in Egypt on 8th and 9th November 2009 at Ministerial Level.

This meeting offered the occasion to exchange views on the way of improving the coordination in the Africa-China Partnership and the way forward for AUC to be involved in the next FOCAC.

Also H.E. Mr. Zhang Ming has given an overview on the implementation process of the Beijing Declaration and Plan of Action.

Prior to that, the AUC Chairperson, H.E. Dr Jean Ping, had received H.E. Mr. Zhang Ming and his delegation at his office to welcome them.
