Côte d’Ivoire / 55,000 registrations have been processed, Issia coordination centre manager tells Special representative
ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, August 21, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — 55,000 registrations have been fully processed at the coordination centre in Issia, the manager of the centre said on Thursday, during a visit to the town by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Côte d’Ivoire, Y.J. Choi.
“This figure represents almost 57% of the data. The rest of the data will be processed within the next two weeks,” he said.
As was the case in Daloa this morning, the issue of salary arrears owed to identification agents and local commissioners was also brought to the attention of the Special Representative.
Mr. Choi took note and promised to discuss the issue with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Abidjan.
The same difficulties with salary arrears had disrupted work at the coordination centre in Daloa.
The head of UNOCI’s visit to Issia was part of his four-day mission to the interior of the country, which started on Tuesday, 18 August 2009, to evaluate the 1000 microprojects in Bouaké, Séguéla, Daloa, Issia and San-Pedro.
