Deputy Chairperson of AUC receives US assistant secretary of state for African affairs

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, July 7, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E Mr. Erastus Mwencha today received the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Mr. Johnnie Carson, in his office at the headquarters of the AU, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

Mr. Mwencha and Mr. Carson discussed the issues of regional integration, the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), climate change and global economic crisis. They also discussed the outcome of the 13th AU Summit and peace and security in Africa. 

 

Mr. Carson underscored that USA is keen to collaborate with the African Union Commission in ensuring development and peace and security in the continent.
