
Visit to Cairo by the UNESCO Director-General Mr Koïchiro Matsuura
CAIRO, Egypt, June 29, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Visit to Cairo by the UNESCO Director-General Mr Koïchiro Matsuura tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at the Conference Hall, Smart Village.
UNESCO’s Director-General, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, will visit Egypt on 29-30 June 2009 to launch the global UNESCO initiative related to the “ICT Competency Framework for Teachers” and to witness the soft launch of the “Review of Egyptian Education Reform”. Furthermore, Mr Matsuura will launch the regional initiative, to build an “Arab E-Courseware Digital Library”. Such initiatives fall under a coherent vision to build knowledge societies through capacity building for students, teachers and citizens as well as building high-quality e-content in local languages. The UNESCO Cairo Office will lead the efforts both regionally and globally in those important areas of UNESCO work.
