NAVEUR-NAVAF Receives New Fleet Master Chief
NAPLES, Italy, March 31, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Master Chief Petty Officer (SW/AW/NAC) Bradley N. LeVault assumed duties as the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe – Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) Fleet Master Chief at Allied Joint Forces Command here, March 30.
LeVault relieved Fleet Master Chief Anthony B. Evangelista, who had been at NAVEUR-NAVAF for four years.
“This is my fourth overseas tour,” said LeVault. “I have a great deal of experience to bring to the fight, and I’m ready to lead Sailors in this area of responsibility.”
Some of LeVault’s previous assignments include company commander at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Fla.; leading chief petty officer at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.; and instructor at the U.S. Army Sergeant’s Major Academy in El Paso, Texas.
LeVault is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeant’s Major Academy and earned his master’s degree in national security and strategic studies at the Naval War College, Newport, R.I..
Much of LeVault’s training comes from an Army construct that relies heavily on the Noncommissioned Officers Corps (NCO), which are enlisted personnel in the pay grade of E-5 through E-9.
“My primary focus begins with the Chief’s Mess and extends to the entire NCO Corps,” said LeVault. “I specifically include E5 and E6 Sailors as they represent the majority of the enlisted leadership, and I include them just as much as the Chief’s Mess in being responsible for mission accomplishment — developing Sailors and caring for our families.”
