Kenya / Tanzania / United Kingdom’s Minister of State Gareth Thomas to visit

 

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, December 1, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The United Kingdom’s Minister of State at the Department for International Development and Member of Parliament, Gareth Thomas will be visiting Tanzania and Kenya from 2-4 December 2008. While in Dar es Salaam, the Minister will meet with UN agencies, Government officials and Development Partners and announce additional support to the UN reform process in Tanzania on 2 December.

 

Minister Gareth Thomas was recently appointed joint Minister of State for the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (DBERR). The Minister previously held the position of Parliament Under-Secretary of State for DFID and DBERR from 29 June 2007.

Minister Gareth Thomas has been a Member of Parliament for Harrow West since May 1997 and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the DFID since 2003, with responsibility for Asia; Europe; Latin America, the Caribbean and Overseas Dependent Territories.
