EU High Representative for the CFSP
concerned at the situation in Guinea-Bissau
BISSAU, Guinea Bissau, November 25, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), issued the following statement today expressing his concern at the situation Guinea-Bissau:
“I am very concerned by the latest developments in Guinea-Bissau and I deplore the loss of life caused by the attack on the presidential palace.
After the peaceful elections on 16 November in which the people of Guinea-Bissau demonstrated their trust in democracy, it is imperative that the result of these elections is respected and consolidated.
It would seem that calm has been restored. I sincerely hope that all the political forces will cooperate to ensure the stable environment necessary for the further development of GuineaBissau.”
