Significant activities

Carjacking of UNAMID FHQ sewage truck.    

On 10 Sep 08, UNAMID sewage truck was carjacked by unknown armed men in  the activity of sewage dumping site, 2.5km from Zamzam UNAMID Camp. 3 armed men approached the UNAMID truck and pointed weapons at the driver, ordered him to move the vehicle towards Zamzam IDP Camp. The incident was immediately reported to Government of Sudan (GoS) Police. Efforts to recover the truck are underway.  

Incident at Zamzam IDP Camp in North Darfur.  

On Sep 08, unconfirmed information from Sector North revealed that 10-12 vehicles belonging to Central Reserve Police fired indiscriminately while passing outside Zamzam Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp. This was alleged by one Umdah (Traditional Leader) of the camp when contacted by UNAMID Sector North. He further alleged that two persons were killed; three sustained injuries and two more were taken away by the Central Reserve Police.

Bold (GoS) activities in Tawilla (North Darfur).        

On 10 Sep 08, GoS0 military elements that are currently operating aganist and fighting the rebel movement Sudan Liberation Army-Abdul Wahid Faction (SLA–W) in the area were observed moving around. GoS paramilitary new commander brought two injured GoS soldiers for medical treatment at the UNAMID Clinic in Tawila.
