Namibia / IMLT Business Simulation Programme reaching the North of Namibia

Namibia / IMLT Business Simulation Programme reaching the North of Namibia

WINDHOEK, Namibia, July 16, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ – Past week VTC students in Ongwediva took part in the Business Simulation Seminar. They received hands-on experience on how to plan and operate their own business – all in a virtual, computer based competition. This first seminar represents the beginning of a future cooperation between the Valombola VTC and the Institute for Management and Leadership Training (IMLT).

With the expansion of the Simulation Programme to the northern regions of Namibia the IMLT provides Business Training to students as well as start-up entrepreneurs in those high potential economic hubs. Participants can use their experience to widen opportunities for small enterprises.

The mobile seminar setup enables the IMLT Team to take the Business Simulation Programme to the locations and venues of demand. This high flexibility allows the IMLT to contribute to closing the gap of access to entrepreneurial development services between the Khomas and other regions, especially those highly promising areas bordering neighbouring countries. The growing interest and excitement about the Business Simulation Programme lead to the scheduling of the next seminar for end of month in Rundu.

Regarding the high unemployment rate amongst young graduates, the Business Simulation Programme promotes self-employment as a viable and alternative career option. It is the aim of the IMLT and its cooperating partner DED (German Development Service) to contribute to an improved entrepreneurial culture and environment in Namibia from which small enterprises can emerge and prosper. Therefore, the seminars equip participants with entrepreneurial, management and strategic-thinking skills.
