Why: On 25 May 1963 the leaders of African states that were independent at the time established the Organization of African Unity – the predecessor of the African Union – to complete the struggle for African independence.
Activity:
- Speeches commemorating African unity
- Entertainment – Music by Kayamba Africa, dances by a Mozambican dance troupe
- Poster session by IBAR displaying their current projects and presentation by UN-HABITAT on water and sanitation
- Cultural exhibitions from Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan
- Photo and interview opportunities
