Centre for former child soldiers to be officially opened

The Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre in Gulu District will be opened on 17 November 2007.
President Museveni of Uganda, Secretary-General Don McKinnon, Deputy Secretary-General Florence Mugasha, high level local authorities and other members of the international community will be present.
The Centre targets former child soldiers as well as other victims of Uganda’s civil war and aims to provide them with vocational and life skills to help them rebuild their lives, regain trust in adults and turn into agents for peace in that community.
The project is supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat, with contributions from the Ugandan government, the World Food Programme, the Japanese Government and ARK, the international children’s charity.
